Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Dustin Johnson
Tiger Woods returns this week to Torrey Pines for his first official PGA Tour event in over 17 months, following two back surgeries.
As if there wasn’t enough excitement surrounding his return, the PGA Tour went and added some extra firepower in grouping the Big Cat with Jason Day, the top ranked player in the world, and the reigning U.S. Open champion and current No. 3 player in the world, Dustin Johnson.

Woods is currently ranked 663rd in the world, but is returning to a place where he has had huge success in Torrey Pines. Not only has he won the Farmers Insurance Open on seven occasions, but Woods’ last major victory came here in the 2008 U.S. Open.
Of note, Day is a past champion of this event (winning in 2015), while Johnson is coming off a runner-up finish last week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship last week on the European Tour.
Day and Johnson are two of the bigger hitters on the PGA Tour. It will be interesting to see if Woods will try to keep up with them or be content to play it a little more on the safe side and stay in the short grass.
The group will tee off at 10:40 PT on Torrey Pines’ South Course on Thursday and will play at 9:30 PT on the North Course on Friday.
