Taking the Weekend Off – Valspar Championship

Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire

This week’s Valspar Championship‘s field was not the strongest to begin with and it took a hit at the midway point as several of the marquee names bid farewell to the Snake Pit.

Justin Thomas leads the FedEx Cup standings based on his three wins and a top-five finish in last week’s WGC-Mexico Championship, but he will not be adding to his lead as his 3-over total sends him packing with the 36-hole cut coming at EVEN-par.

Other big names with the weekend to either hang out and relax at the Innisbrook Resort or head home include Bubba Watson, Ernie Els, Steve Stricker, Vijay Singh and Luke Donald.

On the Number

Notables who made the cut on the number at EVEN-par include past U.S. Open champions Jim Furyk, Graeme McDowell and Webb Simpson.

Last year’s United States Ryder Cup hero Patrick Reed also stayed alive for the weekend at EVEN for the Valspar Championship’s first two rounds.
