In addition to the great golf that he’s been playing over the last year and a half, Dustin Johnson is on a roll off the course, too. More on that in a second
First, to the business at hand, Johnson has the lead headed into Sunday of the rain hindered Genesis Open in L.A. after posting a second straight 66 late Saturday afternoon. It will be a long day with he, Pat Perez and Cameron Tringale playing in the final group and teeing at 7:00am Pacific Time to start their third round. The hope would be that they could finish all 36 holes before sundown Sunday night, but it will be challenging.
Should DJ be victorious, it would be his 13th PGA Tour victory and his first since winning the PGA Tour Playoff event The BMW Championship last September. You probably also recall he broke through with his first major win (after several near misses) at the U.S. Open at Oakmont last June.
So, again, the golf is good.
And then, away from golf, he is also rolling. Johnson is engaged to Paulina Gretzky, daughter of the NHL Legend. In fact Dustin and “The Great One” played together last week at Pebble Beach.
Meanwhile, the couple already has a child, two year old son, Tatum, who famously was the 18th green to greet and celebrate with Daddy. And, now, their family is growing. Paulina made the announcement on Instagram earlier Saturday:
So, baby #2 is on the way later this year adding to attention and popularity of those two.
Oh, and did we mention that if Johnson wins Sunday night (or if they have to finish Monday), he could overtake Jason Day and become the new #1 ranked golfer in the world?
Like the headline says, he’s doing just fine.
