The old adage of “records are meant to be broken” came into play yet again concerning the Waste Management Phoenix Open and its ocean of humanity on the property at TPC Scottsdale.

Friday’s Round 2 drew 169,004 fans, breaking the previous PGA Tour record for Friday attendance that was set just last year of 160,415. This is all on the heels of drawing 103,420 fans on Thursday’s first round!

Saturday’s third-round GREEN OUT which saw a record crowd of more than 201,000 fans last years should be eclipsed tomorrow as the weather forecast calls for a picture perfect mid-70s.

For Saturday’s third round, every fan, player, caddy, volunteer and service animal wearing GREEN, tournament hosts, The Thunderbirds, will donate cash to three deserving non-profit organizations with a sustainability focus.

Byeong Hung An and Brendan Steele sit atop the leaderboard at 10-under par going into the weekend.
