After a week in Mexico, the PGA Tour returns to Florida for the Valspar Championship at the Innisbrook Spa and Resort’s Copperhead Course.
This week’s field pales in comparison to last week’s World Golf Championships event, but there are a few groups that will be fun to follow, highlighted by three major champions: Henrik Stenson, Charl Schwartzel and Bubba Watson.
Stenson is the highest ranked player in the field. He made his 2017 PGA Tour debut last week in Mexico, only to withdraw after 11 holes due to a stomach illness. The No. 6 player in the world has had success at this course in the past with a fourth place finish in 2015 and a tie for 11th last year’s event.
Two-time Masters champion Watson will be making his first start at the Copperhead Course in six years. His best finish at this event was a tie for third in 2010. He is coming off a 38th place finish last week at the WGC-Mexico and is looking for his first PGA Tour win since the 2016 Genesis Open.
Schwartzel is the defending champion, winning last year’s Valspar Championship in a playoff over Bill Haas for his first PGA Tour win since the 2011 Masters.
Golf Channel has live coverage Thursday and Friday and early coverage on the weekend. NBC has live coverage on Saturday and Sunday. PGA TOUR Radio on SiriusXM and PGATOUR.com will have coverage all four days.
