Field Watch: Shell Houston Open

The Shell Houston Open tees off next week on the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course with a solid field that includes five of the top ten ranked players in the world.

Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott and Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson top the star power in the final PGA Tour event before the Masters.

Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Matt Kuchar, Jimmy Walker, Jon Rahm, Rafa Cabrera Bello round out the top 30 players in the field.

Notables in the deep field include Keegan Bradley, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Morgan Hoffmann, Davis Love III and Lee Westwood

Shell Houston Open secured its date before the Masters in 2007. The Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course is set up to emulate the unique playing conditions of Augusta, giving players an opportunity to prepare for Masters competition the following week. Shell Houston Open is the last qualifying opportunity for players not otherwise eligible to gain an invitation to Augusta.

This the 26th and final tournament with Shell Oil Company as the title sponsor and is the 69th PGA TOUR event hosted by the Houston Golf Association.

Golf Channel has live coverage Thursday and Friday and early coverage on the weekend. NBC has live coverage on Saturday and Sunday. PGA TOUR Radio on SiriusXM and PGATOUR.com will have coverage all four days.
