It has been a whirlwind of a year for Nike Golf as they announced in August that they were exiting the golf club and golf ball business to refocus its efforts on clothing and golf shoes.

Nike announced on Jan. 1 that they had signed world No. 1 Jason Day to a deal believed to be worth $10 million per year to wear the company’s shoes and apparel.

Now comes another big splash with the official news that the Air Jordan I golf shoe will be available beginning Feb. 10th.

“MJ introduced his provocative style of play to professional basketball in 1984, and the Air Jordan I shocked the world at the same time,” says Gentry Humphrey, VP Nike Golf Footwear. “Interestingly, Michael started to take up the game of golf in 1984, the exact same year Nike started to develop the Air Jordan I.”

The Air Jordan golf shoe will feature extra padding from the basketball version of the shoe in order to provide additional comfort and support around the ankle.

“The Air Jordan I was the first sneaker that really pushed the limits on what was acceptable,” said Michael Jordan, in a Nike release. “It’s like being a young kid, when his parents say he can’t do something but he wants to do it. I felt like I wanted to be different.”

The Air Jordan I will be available in two options: white/black/varsity red and white/metallic silver.

The Air Jordan I carries a suggested retail price of $200 and will be available at and select retailers.
